Kelly Clarkson has worked actively in the music sector for almost two decades. She is a singer and a songwriter who has also published some children’s books.
She was born to Jeanne Ann and Stephen Michael Clarkson on 24th April 1982. Her hometown is Fort Worth, Texas.
Kelly spent her childhood in Texas and completed her high school at Burleson High School. The singer did not receive any vocal training during her school days, but after her high school graduation, she began her vocal training.
Clarkson was clear about her desire to pursue a professional music career and had written a fair share of music as a high schooler.
The opportunity came knocking on Clarkson’s door in the form of American Idol: The Search for a Superstar, the very first season of the singing competition series. The Texan singer gave her audition from Dallas, Texas.
At the time, Clarkson was only 20 years old. She performed ‘At Last’ by Etta James and ‘Express Yourself‘ by Madonna.
For the 2002 season of American Idol, Kelly’s friends pushed her to audition, and she made it to the next round of the competition. Clarkson went on to win the competition defeating Justin Guarini in the finale.
Following the win, RCA Records, 19 Recordings, and S Records signed Kelly.
Kelly debuted with ‘Before your Love’ and ‘A Moment Like This’ as a double-A-side single on 17th September 2002. It made a giant leap on the Billboard Hot 100 chart gaining the No. 1 spot after a run at number 52 the previous week.
The song did great business and was declared the best-selling single of the year.
Thankful, Kelly’s first album was released the subsequent year and included different genres of music. The album was an instant hit and sold more than 4.5 million copies globally.
The single ‘Miss Independent’ was a sensation and got worldwide recognition. The music video for the single was aired on 18th November 2003. The singer received a Grammy Award nomination for the single.
Clarkson tried in the film debuting in From Justin to Kelly, but it was a box-office disaster. She then appeared in MADtv, a comedy series, and American Dream.
