I love Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack so much that I have it on three systems! This is just such a fun puzzle platformer and one of the very best of this genre actually. So far I have this on PS3, Nintendo Switch and I recently picked it up on PC as well so I feel like I am more than qualified to talk about this game. I am sure most people have heard about this game over the years, but for those that have not, I hope to convince you to give this epic game a try, trust me, you will not regret it!
A huge part of the reason Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack appeals to me so much is the B-Movie style of it all. We play as this alien blog from space that has been held captive by scientists and experimented on. One day, our blog manages to escape and as you would expect, he is mad as hell and out for revenge! It is fun stuff and I had a huge smile on my face the whole time!
Embracing Its B-Movie Roots
I already talked about how Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack has a B-Movie style, but man is it done so well. Form the zany presentation, the music, the way people talk, and more. It is like a 1950s sci-fi movie that you are playing through. I also love how clear, clean, and bright all of the visuals are and the animations of the blob and the path of destruction that he goes on is truly amazing stuff and is sure to be something you get a massive kick out of.
Rolling Down Town
The core gameplay of Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack is the kind of thing that is easy to pick up and play, but hard to master. The blog controls very well and is easy to move around. The more he rolls over and eats, the bigger and stronger he will become. It becomes so much fun to keep plowing over stuff and adding it to your mass. There are over 20 levels in the game and each one has you sliding, slamming, and crashing your way through things, but eventually, you will need to evolve!
Evolve Blob, Evolve!
As you would expect from a puzzle platformer, Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack has some neat abilities and upgrades that you can take advantage of as you play. This blog can use the power of magnetism to use metal to his advantage, telekinesis to make sure he is getting his way, and even rocket boosting! As you progress through the game, the levels will become more and more challenging and require you to really make smart use of your various abilities.
I cannot say enough positive things about Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack. It truly is a wonderful and fun puzzle platformer and one that I would put close to the top of my list actually. When the biggest negative I have about the game is that I wish it lasted longer, you know that it must be good. I highly recommend you check this one out, trust me after just a few minutes you are going to find yourself completely hooked.
